At Northland Tae Kwon Do we teach traditional martial arts with an emphasis on following the tenets of Tae Kwon Do which include: Courtesy, Integrity, Self Control, Perseverance, and Indomitable Spirit. We believe the martial arts is about more than just physical self defense, it is about developing discipline, positive character development, awareness, flexibility, healthy habits, and emotional strength.
Classes are offered in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido. Tournament team practice is offered for students interested in competition. In the summer we celebrate school achievement with a picnic for those students (and their families) who have done their best in school all year. In the fall we have a family potluck, hayride, four wheeling ride, and trap shoot gathering for all students and family members involved in Northland Tae Kwon Do.
Adult classes are for students 14 years old and up. Emphasis is placed on individual improvement. While some adults join for self defense others join for reasons such as getting fit, increased confidence, and the positive encouraging atmosphere.
Childrens classes are offered according to rank and age. We offer classes for 5-8 year old beginners, 9-13 year old beginners, intermediate ranks (green and blue belts), and high ranks (purple - poom).
Hapkido is another Korean martial art with an emphasis on joint locks, throws, and lock ups. Hapkido classes are offered to students 14 years of age and older.
Kumdo classes are not offered at this time.
